Do I Need Therapy?

Do I Need Therapy?

5 Signs It Might Be Time to Talk to Someone

If you’ve ever found yourself asking yourself ‘Do I need therapy?’ while lying awake at 2 a.m., you’re definitely not alone. Many of us wrestle with that question quietly, wondering if things are ‘bad enough’ to justify asking for help. The short answer?

Most people who access therapy are not falling apart, but something has shifted, life threw a curveball, maybe a sudden loss, a transition, a disappointment or a slow creeping burnout and now you are not quite yourself. Some people, increasingly, would like the space for personal growth and development.

Therapy can be an opportunity— a space to untangle your thoughts, understand yourself better.

What is therapy about?

Therapy isn’t about fixing what is broken. Therapy isn’t a quick fix. CBT Therapy is about helping you to shift beliefs, patterns and behaviours that are keeping you stuck – with lasting results.

It is about coming home to yourself, gently unravelling the layers, reconnecting with parts of yourself. It is about finding a space where we can bring find the version of you that you miss or would like to know, the one that feels alive, more connected, more grounded.

Developing insights in therapy, alongside proven strategies and techniques, together we can explore what you need so you can live the life that you want.

Here are five signs it might be time to talk to someone:

1. You’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or like you’re on autopilot.
Maybe you're juggling too much, or you’re just not sure what you want anymore. If your mind feels cluttered or heavy and you're tired of trying to "just push through," therapy can help you pause, get perspective, and find a clearer way forward.

2. Anxiety or low moods are becoming your new normal.
We all have tough days, but if you’re constantly feeling on edge, drained, or like joy is just out of reach, it’s worth exploring that. Therapy can help you understand where these feelings are coming from — and how to manage them with more self-compassion and less self-blame.

3. You’re tired of overthinking everything.
If your mind is a constant swirl of "what ifs," replaying conversations, or trying to anticipate every outcome, therapy can offer a space to slow the spin. You don’t have to carry it all alone — and you don’t need to solve everything in your head.

4. You’ve been through something big — and it’s still sitting with you.
Grief, breakups, burnout, transitions — even changes you chose can feel surprisingly hard to process. Therapy offers room to reflect and make sense of what you’ve been through, especially if it’s lingering longer than you expected.

5. Your usual coping tools just aren’t cutting it anymore.
When your go-to ways of coping (like staying busy, venting to friends, or zoning out on Netflix) stop helping, it might be time to try something new. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you — it’s about giving you new ways to support yourself, especially when life feels hard.

You don’t need to hit rock bottom to start therapy.
So many people come to therapy simply because they want more clarity, peace, or to feel more like themselves again. Whether you're navigating anxiety, burnout, grief, or just feel “off,” therapy can be a space to breathe, reflect, and move forward with support.
