Now is the future that you promised yourself last year, last month, last week. Now is the only moment you’ll ever have. Mindfulness is waking up to that.

— Mark Williams

Mindfulness can lead to transformational changes for you, allowing you to be alive to every moment of your life. Mindfulness is a natural capacity we all have to pay attention, without judgment to the present moment.

Mindfulness training can help us to recognise thoughts, patterns, tendencies, physical responses. It can support us when we may experience difficulty, such as anxiety, stress and sadness and find ourselves spiralling downwards, sometimes to a clinical depression level. Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is recommended by NICE Guidelines for people who have experienced 2 or more episodes of depression.

There is an ever increasing body of randomised clinical trials and evidence to support MBCT as a first class approach, the Gold Standard (Kuyken et al, 2006). It is proven to be as effective as anti-depressants for those who have experienced 2 or more episodes of depression.

Mindfulness Cognitive Therapy focusses on teaching you to make a simple yet radical shift in your relationship with thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations. Mindfulness is an experiential approach, using meditations and other techniques within a group, significant learning and changes can occur.
